The Experiment - Day 5 and day 6

Sorry that I write right now about day 5, but yesterday (5th day of the experiment), I got the train to go home and I wasn’t able to write the review. So, for the 5th day, at breakfast I drank a cup of tea and ate 3 slices with pate,  at lunch/dinner some boiled potatoes and 3 sandwiches with pate. It was enough for me, until I arrived at Bucharest, where, I had to eat a mini croissant because I was starving.

At home, in Galati, my mother prepared some potatoes stew, so I could continue my experiment. 1 plate of potatoes stew and 2 sandwiches with pate(prepared by Daniel) were enough for day 6. I was so tired today that I hadn’t be able to eat too much.

Tomorrow is my last day of the experiment and I’ll try to eat potatoes(not too many because at Cluj remained only 15-16 potatoes ). I have also the option to eat some spaghetti, but I’ll see in the morning.

Bye bye, I will write the review, and the impresions, tomorrow.

Keep in touch!

The Experiment - Day 4

Day 4 is over. Not too many things to say…I woke up at 8.30-9, ate at breakfast some bread with margarine and jam and worked alot. At lunch, I’ve made some spaghetti, with sauce, and after that, I went to school for about 4 hours. When I got home, I was really hungry…but I got some pate, and everything was fine. At dinner I prepared potatoes salad with onion and lemon.

Today was the second day when I was at the mall this week(with Alex and Mickey and Oana).I didn’t eat anything, but everywhere was food, drinks and hmm…a lot of nice smells. Too bad for me.

At the end of the day I can say that one more bread is out of this experiment and also that I have 3 more days to live with all the food that I have right now in the fridge.Hope to resist.

If anyone is asking how I feel, I can say that I’m ok. I’m not hungry, I’m not starving. I eat alot but, hm…I think I miss the sweets from the menu, some cookies, or I don’t know, something with sugar (not jam).

Ok, that’s it for today, tommorrow day 5. Stay close.

The Experiment - Day 3

Today was a great day for cooking and eating too. I think that I cooked for almost 2 hours.I’ve eaten all the soup and also one box of pate is out of the game.

It seems that Friday night/Saturday morning I will go home by train, so I’ll need some food for the trip. I thought that some sandwiches with pate  or margarine will be perfect.  But let’s leave “what I’ll do”. REV REV REV. For lunch I prepared some mashed baked potatoes, the recipe for which I got from culinar.ro .I think they were delicious, Alex could tell you more about the new recipe, because he tasted it too. For dinner, nothing special. I finnished the pate box, and some margarine with jam for desert were enough.

Day 3 is out, day 4 is here.

The Experiment - Day 2

Day two has passed. Today I was sick and  breakfast was ruined. The only thing that I could eat was a “Casa buna” yoghurt. Not very happy about that, but I wasn’t able to eat anything else.

Of course, for  lunch a soup was enough, and at dinner, another cup of soup and some baked potatoes were my friends. Today I bought another bread(-0,4 RON).
So, everything is working according to plan. Day three is starting..

The Experiment - Day 1

Day one has passed, and I’m fine. I think.

The report from day one:

Breakfast  - woke up at 9.30-10, drank a cup of tea( I invested in 7 bags of tea - 7×0,07 RON~ 0,5 RON), ate 2 slices of bread with margarine and jam.

Lunch: a boul of soup, with bread, and mashed potatoes.

Dinner: 2 slices of bread with pate.

It seems that today was nice, and I survived without many problems.

The Experiment

You students, how much money do you spend on your food?

Ok, look what I thought. I want to try to live one week (7 days, 24h/day) just with the money spent in many ocassions at McDonald’s or KFC, just for one menu.

From today, November 23 2008, one week I will live just with a small amount of money.

So…how much money do I have to spend? Hm…about 16 RON. That means, almost 6$, 4 euros or 3 and a half pounds.

What do I want to show with this? That a student from Romania, can live, without eating just bread with ketchup or mustard, or starving, one week without very much money. This does not mean that all students should try this, or that they will spend less money from now on. I don’t know even if I can do this. So, don’t do this at home! My friend Alex, will take care of me in case I will not have any money, or anything to eat.

What do I want to do? Just to eat normally, as an ordinary student, for a week. No more mall, no more semi-prepared food, or any of these. All will be prepared home, by me. Today I was at the Auchan, and I bought:

1. 5 kg of potatoes

2. 1 pack of spaghetti

3.  2 yoghurts - “Casa buna”

4. 1 box of margarine- Delma Sandwich

5. 3 carrots

6. 2 green peppers

7. 3 onions

8. 3 boxes of liver pate

9. 1 lemon

10. 1 bread - for one day.

Total: 14 RON

I have 2 RON for 5 breads, each at 0.4 RON.

Hope to survive :)

Wish me luck and support me!
